In the ’90s, a fruitful and limited collaboration between Girard Perregaux and Ferrari led to the creation of some particular specimens, most of them with chronograph complications while one, the present lot, with the ultra-rare combination of split seconds and minute repeaters. With a sporty yet elegant look, the lot here offered has a three-body case, manufactured in yellow gold with curved lugs and sloped bezel, all preserved in remarkable conditions. The crystal back shows the complex tourbillon movement 9898 while on the border is the engravings and the N° 1. The split-second complication was extensively used on race tracks as it allows the wearer to register both the overall duration of a race as well as its individual laps. If this wasn’t enough, has been added to the charm of the minute repetition on two gongs, activated by a slide on the case band. The dial has a silvered surface with applied very rare and appreciated Breguet numbers, two subsidiary dials and the Ferrari logo. It is important to underline that this very logo is unusually located at 12 o’clock to further highlight the importance that Girard Perregaux gave to Ferrari, drawing attention to the automaker’s logo rather than its own. Furthermore, this watch is sold with its original box and Certificat d’Authenticité confirming the year of production of this incredibly rare, complicated and prestigious watch, probably the most complex ever produced by the Maison.
