This lot is a catching specimen of Patek Philippe reference 2509, also known as “Grande Calatrava Waterproof”. Launched in 1950, is the equivalent of reference 2508, but with subsidiary seconds rather than center seconds. In the years of its production was available in two versions, a first one fitted with lozenge-shaped indexes and a later one, such as this one, with lapped indexes and beady minute divisions. The two-body waterproof case with screw back of this 2509 has been realized in 18k pink gold and its stepped and inclined bezel and concave lugs are all incredibly fresh and well preserved. To protect the caliber cal. 12–400a dust protecting cap. Reference 2509 was produced until at least 1967 and only around 20% of the production was cased in pink gold such as this lot. This watch is also provided with the extract from the archives confirming its production in 1955 and subsequent sale on the 13th of March 1956.
