The Carrera Chronomatic, such as the present watch, received an entirely new case, to house its new automatic movement. This new case was a C-shaped case broke from the traditional style of the 1960s Carrera cases and was the most expensive watches sold by Heuer, even offered with the option of a fitted 18 karat gold Milanese bracelet. The present lot is an amazing exponent of the reference 1158, combining the excellent conditions of the yellow-gold case with brushed top and sides and a very rare argent dial since very few have been seen with this configuration (the most common is the champagne one). The reference gained significant popularity when in the 1970s Jack Heuer awarded each driver of Ferrari’s Formula One team with this model.
