The lot here offered is a truly fine example of reference 2551 in 18k yellow gold. This reference was produced from 1954 to 1960 and its cases were made by Wenger while the dials made by Stern Freres. The three-body case of the present specimen with screwed down back, stepped concave bezel, recessed winding crown with PP and fluted lug it’s extremely well preserved still maintaining its original proportions a crisp hallmarks. The matte silver dial with applied yellow-gold stick indexes, outer perlage minute division and subsidiary seconds dial is also in surprising conditions considering it’s over 60 years of age. The caliber is the 12–600AT movement, an engineering marvel which made its debut at the 1953 Basel Fair: at the time of its release, it was one of the most highly jeweled calibers for a time-only watch produced by Patek Philippe. The present lot is enhanced by a marvelous yellow-gold bracelet with thin texture, its original Certificate of Origin and receipt from Beyer Zurich. With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin confirming the movement, case material, caliber, reference and the sale in 1958 from Beyer and completed by its receipt.
