Movado and Zenith joined forces in the 1970s to create the Astronic model, of which the present lot is a remarkable specimen. It is powered by the caliber 3019 PHF, considered the rarest of the “El Primero” chronograph movements. Available in steel or gold, the latter becoming increasingly rare to find (whose production is estimated to approximately 100 examples), especially in good condition such as the present example. Its heavy gold tonneau-shaped case with bracelet creates a 1970s aesthetic and is a great looking and unusual design in modern times. The champagne dial features a triple date calendar moon phase aperture and the chronograph complication counter by the 3 subsidiary dials.
