Rolex in 1926 gave birth to the first totally waterproof case, named Oyster. Only 5 years later the company introduced the world’s first self-winding mechanism, a totally new era of convenience and functionality. In 2020, after almost 100 years, Rolex made a new style for this watch with that stand out of the ordinary, the dial was made in some particular colors: the “candy pink”, turquoise blue”, “green”, “yellow”, and finally “coral red” like the present lot. These are today known as “Stella dials”. Whilst the colorful dials of the Oyster Perpetual 36s are not Stella dials, they do remind of a very interesting part of Rolex’s history. It was during the 1970s and 1980s that Rolex presented these dials, which were lacquered with hard enamel. The caliber of this watch is the 3230, and is a movement developed and manufactured in-house entirely by Rolex. Preserved in New Old Stock conditions with box, original card warranty, booklets and tag, it is a like new watch for every day.
