The very first model of the iconic Cosmograph Daytona family was the reference 6239, launched approximately in 1963 and discontinued in 1969 like the present lot. The stainless steel case is offered in superb conditions with sharp lugs and well-preserved pushers and crown. The steel bezel calibrated to 200 unites per hour is the trademark of this model, the first one presented on the bezel instead of on the dial, it is the correct one for a watch of this period and appears in really good conditions with absolutely no evident sign of wearing. The watch is the simply astonishing dial with its vivid and shiny black color with white counters nicely aged and conserved. To further embellish it, the very rare and special light blue Daytona signature at 6 o’clock, usually on 6262 references and on the last examples of 6239, such as the present specimen.
