In production between 1953 and 1956, reference 6305 such as the present watch is nicknamed "Ovettone" due to the likeness of its case to an egg. This very lot has a wonderful yellow gold three-body case with screw down back and reeded bezel, all heavenly aged and preserved, with a very deep hallmark on the lug. Anyway, the real exclusivity of this watch lies in its dial. Like on the Day-Dates model, Rolex decided to dare and experiment to express its creativity and audacity on some special Datejust dials and the lot here offered is surely one of the best demonstration of this inclination. The silvered dial indeed displays 6 round cut diamond hour markers for the even numbers, with the odd numbers indicated by gold applied triangle indexes. The black and red date wheel, called roulette, adds another level of flamboyance to the overall appeal of this beautiful watch. Precious but at the same time sophisticated, this 6305 is also equipped with a fantastic yellow gold bracelet decorated with a tile motif. The presence of this special dial rarely seen on the market and made in very limited numbers makes this lot a truly gem for Rolex collectors.
