Audemars Piguet represents one of the most versatile companies on the field, able to reach extremes in the creation of its timepieces. It is indeed the producer of ultra classic dress watches as well as bombastic luxury sports models such as, of course, the Royal Oak. The lot here offered is the dressier sibling of the Royal Oak and for sure is the perfect mix of elegance and sportiness, combining an almost unique decoration for both case and integrated bracelet. Its classic size of 35 mm and fine material (18k white gold) make the perfect combination for a truly charming watch. Its flashy look is surely given by the rope-twist pattern that covers the whole watch. Usually this kind of decoration is made in a smaller way but in this very case the big mesh is capable of making stand out the blue satin dial. The movement was the superb automatic caliber 2121, which is still used today for the Royal Oak Jumbo ref.15202. The beautiful deep blue background accentuates the white printing, the discreet date window at 3 o’clock and the diamond indexes. Featuring a case made by C.R. Spillman and bracelet signed by maker “GRG”, the present lot is a stunning timepiece that incorporates the history of the caliber 2121 and the lauded heritage of case manufactures in the world of watchmaking.
