Roberta di Camerino was an Italian fashion designer and is also the name of the high-fashion brand she founded immediately after the end of the Second World War. Roberta di Camerino has acquired international fame for its production of fashion accessories and clothes. She opened her first workshop in 1945 after her experience in Switzerland during the war, and just over ten years later, in 1956 she was awarded of the fashion Oscar, the Neiman Marcus Award, while her first show was in the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence. The ’70s are marked by the conquest of numerous awards and by a commercial agreement with the giant Mitsubishi for the exclusive company lines in Japan and with other important brands. The lot offered here has a belt buckle textured gold-shaped case with a champagne dial, painted radial Roman numerals and “Breguet” blued steel hands. Most important to underline is the signature Cartier at 12 o’clock, one of the first ever seen, making this watch a prototype made for the Cartier mason, as the movement is signed by Universal Genève. The case back is engraved “designed by Roberta di Camerino”, and this strap watch with this unusual shape, is adjustable in size through either end of the of buckle case, a true pearl for a collector.
