Produced from the late 1950s into the early 1970s, reference 3405/2 reflects a period when Geneva’s great maisons explored form and texture with remarkable confidence. Here, the square case in 18K yellow gold is both architectural and sensual: broad, flat surfaces meet sharply defined edges, while the bracelet flows seamlessly from the case, creating a continuous ribbon of gold around the wrist. What distinguishes this example is its unapologetic monochromatic presence. Rather than playing with contrasting metals, it embraces the warmth of yellow gold throughout: case, dial, and bracelet forming a cohesive, almost sculptural whole. The dial’s intricate woven texture echoes the bracelet’s pattern, producing a subtle play of light that shifts with every movement. Alternating baguette and brilliant-cut sapphires punctuate the dial with discreet flashes of blue, offering just enough contrast to animate the composition without disturbing its harmony. Preserved in excellent overall condition, the case retains strong lines and presence, while the bracelet remains supple and well articulated. The watch is accompanied by its certificate of origin and presentation box, allowing for a more understated interpretation when desired. The reference 3405/2 captures a particular moment in Patek Philippe’s history, a time when design, craftsmanship, and precious materials were combined with quiet confidence.
