The Rolex Midas occupies a unique place in the history of the Maison, representing one of the most daring and unconventional expressions of Rolex design. Started in the early 1960s with the reference 9630 and conceived with an emphasis on sculptural form and precious materials, the Midas family quickly became one of the most exclusive creations in the Rolex catalogue. The present reference 3585 is a particularly striking example, crafted in 18K yellow gold and distinguished by its exceptionally rare coral dial. The natural stone provides a warm and richly textured backdrop, complemented by the applied Rolex crown at 12 o’clock and the distinctive Khanjar emblem discreetly positioned at 6 o’clock. The traditional dagger and crossed-belt insignia of the Sultanate of Oman is particularly evocative, linking this exceptional timepiece to the fascinating history of Rolex watches commissioned for the Omani market. The combination of precious yellow gold, natural coral and Khanjar-signed dial makes this Midas a particularly compelling collector’s piece. Rarely encountered on the market, examples combining an hard stone dial with an Omani Khanjar signature are highly sought after for their rarity, provenance and distinctive aesthetic, making the present reference 3585 a remarkable representation of Rolex’s most exclusive creations of the era.
