Introduced in 1942 and remaining in production until 1950, the reference 1527 was produced in yellow gold, pink gold, stainless steel and platinum. It represents one of the rarest Calatrava models produced by Patek Philippe during the period. Its slender profile and 34 mm case lend the reference an unmistakable elegance and harmonious proportions characteristic of the Maison’s creations of the era. The present example belongs to the exceptionally rare platinum production, of which only very few examples are known. Its case was produced by Vichet, bearing key number 9, as found on the gold examples, while the stainless steel cases were made by Wenger. The watch is powered by the manual-winding calibre 12-120, featuring subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock, while certain gold examples were also fitted with the later calibre 12-120 SC with centre seconds. The dials were supplied by Stern Frères, with the sector dial of the present example further enhancing its rarity and visual appeal.
