Introduced in 2005, the reference 5959 marked a milestone in Patek Philippe's history as the first wristwatch to feature the manufacture's fully in-house split-seconds chronograph movement, the ultra-thin calibre CHR 27-525 PS. Measuring just 5.25 mm in height, it was the world's thinnest "rattrapante" movement at the time of its introduction and was housed in an elegant 33 mm platinum officer-style case inspired by Patek Philippe's historic 1923 split-seconds chronograph wristwatch. The present example is fitted with the highly desirable white lacquered dial with black painted Breguet numerals, a configuration believed to have been produced in approximately 50 examples. Discontinued in 2018 and offered complete with its original Certificate of Origin and presentation folio, the reference 5959P remains one of the most significant and collectible modern chronographs produced by the manufacture.
