The “Tradition” model was designed as an homage to a famous model that Breguet produced at the end of the 18th century. The Tradition Seconde Rétrograde 7097 was the first model in the series to feature an automatic movement. It features a fan-shaped retrograde seconds hand at 10 o’clock, while the rotor visible through the sapphire crystal case back is inspired by the weight used in Breguet’s “Perpetuelle” automatic watch, invented in 1780. Crafted in 18-carat rose gold and measuring 40 mm in diameter, the Tradition 7097 features an open-worked construction designed to showcase the bridges, wheels, escapement, barrel and other movement components. The self-winding movement offers retrograde small seconds at 10 o’clock and an off-centred gold dial, while the sapphire crystal case back provides a view of the hand-finishing normally hidden beneath the baseplate.
