Introduced in 1977, the Rolex Datejust reference 16018 represented the evolution of one of Rolex's most enduring and recognizable models, combining the classic proportions of the Datejust with the elegance and weight of an 18k yellow gold case and bracelet. Produced until approximately 1988, the reference is powered by the automatic calibre 3035, featuring the important addition of a quickset date mechanism. The present example is distinguished by its highly attractive and unusual deep blue dial, featuring an oversized Arabic numeral configuration and the characteristic “Boiler Gauge” minute track, lending the watch a particularly distinctive and graphic appearance. Further enhancing its appeal is the prestigious double signature of Tiffany & Co., one of the most celebrated names in luxury retailing and a long-standing Rolex retailer. The combination of the striking blue dial, warm yellow gold case and bracelet, and coveted Tiffany & Co. signature results in a particularly charismatic interpretation of the classic Datejust.
