Movado distinguished itself from the 1950s through the 1970s with exceptional jewellery watches in which the timepiece was concealed beneath an ornamental composition. Particularly fashionable in the post-war period, these “secret” watches combined horology with the art of jewellery, with the function of timekeeping becoming secondary to the precious object. The present example is distinguished by its entirely yellow-gold bracelet, sculpted as a remarkably realistic feather. Finely chiselled and engraved, it evokes the natural texture of plumage and wraps elegantly around the wrist. A concealed hinged mechanism opens to reveal a second openwork feather motif on the reverse, demonstrating the exceptional craftsmanship of the Movado workshops. The discreetly concealed rectangular dial features a light-grey ground, applied baton markers and matching hands. The watch is a remarkable expression of Movado’s ability to unite fine goldsmithing with traditional Swiss horology.
