Founded in the early 20th century in the Vallée de Joux, Rochat launched its first chronograph in 1925. In 1942, the family-owned company established a presence in Yverdon-les-Bains, where its workshop evolved into a full-fledged watchmaking house. In 1972, Lucien Rochat, the founder’s grandson, took over the company and gave it his name. The 1980s and 1990s marked the Maison’s golden age, with sophisticated timepieces produced in small quantities. The present example is a split-seconds chronograph, allowing two elapsed times to be measured simultaneously from the same starting point. It is powered by a hand-wound Venus 179 calibre, visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The yellow gold case houses a refined white lacquered dial with a Roman numeral at 12 o’clock, applied hour markers, tachymeter scale, and two blued-steel split-seconds hands. Produced in a limited edition of 30 pieces, this exceptional timepiece reflects the technical ambition and craftsmanship of Rochat.
