Produced during the 1950s, the present Universal Genève is an exceptional example of the artistic craftsmanship that flourished in Swiss watchmaking during the post-war era. While cloisonné enamel dials most commonly depict landscapes, wildlife or floral motifs, the present watch is distinguished by its extraordinarily rare representation of a medieval combat scene between two mounted knights, a subject seldom encountered on enamel wristwatches. Executed using the demanding cloisonné technique, the exceptionally well-preserved dial displays remarkable depth and precision, with vibrant shades of green, blue, red and gold separated by delicate gold wires. Housed in an elegant 35 mm yellow gold case and powered by a manual-winding movement, the present timepiece represents a highly attractive and exceedingly rare combination of fine watchmaking and miniature enamel artistry, further enhanced by its original Universal Genève leather strap and matching Universal Genève buckle.
