In 1921, Cartier reinterpreted its iconic Tank in a longer and curved form, giving rise to the Tank Cintrée. Its case was gently curved to follow the contours of the wrist more naturally, lending the watch an unmistakably elegant profile. The elongated lugs further accentuated its slender silhouette, which would become one of the most recognisable designs in the history of the Tank. The present example, crafted in 18K white gold, illustrates this emblematic design with remarkable purity. Its elongated case follows the characteristic curvature of the model, while the light grey dial displays an exceptionally elegant and refined patina. The black hand-painted Roman numerals are executed in keeping with the Maison’s longstanding aesthetic tradition, while the discreet “Cartier” signature completes the composition with the understated elegance expected of the Maison. The crown, set with a sapphire cabochon, lends a discreet precious touch to the profile of the case, while the brushed white-gold case back is engraved with the timepiece’s serial number. The watch is fitted with a leather strap, complemented by a gold deployant clasp, likewise individually numbered and hallmarked. The presence of matching serial numbers on both the case and clasp bears witness to the meticulous attention devoted by Cartier to the traceability of each component. The Tank Cintrée remains one of the most sought-after variations within the Tank lineage.
