Introduced in 1948, the Patek Philippe reference 2441 is one of the manufacture's most iconic shaped wristwatches. Produced during the optimistic post-war years, its dramatically flared case, reminiscent of the base of the Eiffel Tower, earned the model the celebrated collector's nickname "Eiffel Tower" and later inspired the commemorative reference 5500 "Pagoda" of 1997. Powered by the manually wound calibre 9-90, the watch features a case manufactured by the renowned casemaker Markowski (Geneva Key 8), while the silvered dial was produced by Stern Frères. The present example is offered in its classic yellow gold configuration with a white dial, applied yellow gold Roman, baton and triangular indexes, and subsidiary seconds. Current research suggests that fewer than 170 examples were produced between 1948 and the late 1950s, with approximately 110 in yellow gold and 59 in pink gold, making the present watch one of Patek Philippe's rarest and most desirable vintage shaped wristwatches.
