Introduced in 1937 and produced until 1957, the Patek Philippe reference 533 is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most elegant chronograph wristwatches produced by the manufacture. Mechanically and dimensionally, the model is virtually identical to the celebrated reference 130, sharing the same 33 mm case manufactured by Vichet and powered by the same calibre 13". The only distinction lies in its flat bezel, as opposed to the concave bezel found on the reference 130, lending the watch a cleaner, more restrained aesthetic closely reminiscent of the iconic Calatrava. Produced in significantly smaller numbers than its sister reference, the reference 533 is estimated to have been manufactured in only approximately 330 examples, of which around 215 were cased in pink gold. The present example is further distinguished by its exceptionally desirable pink-on-pink configuration, pairing its pink gold case with a matching pink dial.
