Throughout his career, Gérald Genta developed a highly personal approach to watchmaking, characterised by unconventional case shapes and an imaginative interpretation of classical complications. His eponymous Maison, founded in 1969, became particularly renowned for combining sophisticated mechanical movements with distinctive designs and precious materials. The present timepiece, dating from the 1990s, is housed in an 18k yellow gold case with a distinctive rounded trapezoidal profile, whose sculptural lines extend seamlessly into the integrated yellow gold bracelet. The refined ivory-coloured dial features four subsidiary indications for the day, date, month and leap-year cycle, complemented by a moon-phase display at 12 o’clock and further enhanced by subtle blue details. The present example is fitted with an automatic movement, adding further mechanical significance to this highly individual creation.
