The present watch is one of the very rare examples of the so-called Driver’s reference 4059 ever produced by Vacheron Constantin. A truly tiny and chic creation was nicknamed “Drivers’ watch” by collectors due to its horizontal layout, this unusual shape would allow the wearer to place the watch on the side of the wrist to ease the reading of time while driving without taking the hand off the steering wheel. The rectangular curved case with a snap on the back has been manufactured in 18k pink gold and is presented in excellent condition, with little to no signs of polishing. Slightly curved in order to perfectly wrap someone wrist with winding crown at 3 o’clock, one of the main details of this specimen is surely the worked stepped closing. The silver-plated dial is very well preserved and has a beautiful pink color with applied gold baton and Roman numbers and the valuable signature of the Milanese retailer Verga, located only steps away from the Milan Cathedral.
