Introduced in the 1930s, reference 3536 by Rolex is an exceedingly rare example of an early Oyster Perpetual Bubbleback, hardly published in literature, scarcely appearing in public and one of the most elusive time-only examples of the firm. Available in stainless steel and pink gold or stainless steel and yellow gold, stainless steel or, such as the present specimen, in fully pink gold. It doubtlessly represents one of the most stylistic models ever made of a bubble back with its concave enlarged bezel and slim straight lugs and probably the most sought after by collectors. The lot here offered has an incredibly well-preserved fully pink-gold case with absolutely deep and crisp engravings on the back, very strong proportions and strikes for the quality of its pink-gold grain de riz bracelet. The silvered dial presents big Arabic numbers and pencil hands both with luminous material and closed seconds track interpose with Arabic 5 seconds, making it a true missing piece for any Rolex collection. An Oyster Perpetual like the present example is absolutely a true rarity: almost never seen with this very special configuration, it has been preserved in an astonishing condition by the previous owner.
