Introduced in 1971, references 6263 and 6265 represented a significant evolution of the manually wound Cosmograph Daytona, introducing screw-down pushers and a larger winding crown. Both references were powered by caliber 727 and remained in production for many years. The principal distinction between the two lies in their bezels: the 6263 featured a black acrylic tachymetric bezel, while the 6265 was fitted with an engraved metal bezel. The present reference 6265 is distinguished by its exceptionally homogeneous tropical brown dial. Originally produced in black, the dial has undergone a natural color transformation over the decades, with the original lacquer gradually reacting to environmental factors including UV exposure, heat, and humidity, resulting in the rich brown tone seen today. Such tropicalization occurs only in a limited number of examples and can range from dark chocolate to warmer tobacco hues. The remarkably even and warm coloration of the present dial, extending consistently across its surface while retaining a strong visual contrast with the silvered subsidiary registers, makes this example particularly appealing.
