In the late 1990s, Cartier launched the Cartier Paris Private Collection (CPCP), a programme that ran from 1998 to 2008 and was dedicated to faithfully reissuing some of the Maison’s most iconic historical creations. The collection distinguished itself from Cartier’s regular production through meticulous attention to detail, with strict adherence to original proportions and dial designs, as well as deliberately limited production. Reference 2914 is precisely one of these rare versions, a large model known as the XL, with generous dimensions that are unusual for the Tank Louis Cartier, whose traditional proportions are significantly smaller. This larger version gives the watch a much stronger presence on the wrist, while retaining the slender silhouette and visual balance that have defined the model since the 1920s. Production was deliberately limited to approximately 250 pieces, a remarkably small number that today makes the reference particularly appealing to collectors.
