Founded in Rome in 1884, Bulgari underwent a bold stylistic transformation in the post-war period. In the late 1940s, the Serpenti was born: a gold bracelet watch whose body coils around the wrist using the Tubogas technique, in which fine strips of gold are wound continuously without soldering. This distinctive construction would become one of the Maison’s most recognisable signatures. The present example is an elegant expression of this design, entirely crafted in 18K yellow gold. The bracelet coils around the wrist in several continuous turns, while the oval watch head deliberately echoes the shape of a serpent’s head, creating a seamless transition between the bracelet and case. The understated white dial is signed “Bulgari”, with applied baton indexes and simple gold hands, while the crown is set with a warm brown-golden cabochon. Particularly noteworthy, the case was designed by Gérald Genta, while the movement was sourced from Ebel and is signed both Ebel and Gérald Genta, reflecting the collaboration between the two names.
