The Tank is one of Cartier’s most enduring and recognizable designs, defined by its distinctive rectangular architecture and harmonious proportions. Introduced in 1917, its geometric lines and refined simplicity established a design language that would become one of the most influential in the history of wristwatches. Dating to the 1940s, the present example is crafted in 18k yellow gold and follows the classic Tank design, while differing slightly from the traditional Tank Normale through its softer, more rounded and gently curved case profile. The watch is fitted with an elegant articulated 18k yellow gold bracelet, complementing the case and maintaining the refined character of the timepiece. The silvered dial features painted black Arabic numerals in a distinctly Art Deco-inspired style, complemented by elegant blued steel hands. The watch was manufactured in France, as evidenced by the French eagle hallmarks struck on the case and the “Cartier France” signature on the dial. Attractive signs of age and patina further enhance its authentic vintage character.
