The De Ville line was officially introduced in 1967 and soon became established as one of Omega’s most elegant collections, distinguished by its refined and classical character. The present example combines the understated design of the De Ville with the exceptional goldsmithing of a Tubogas bracelet. The technique consists of winding strips of precious metal around a flexible core without solder, creating a continuous and supple structure that conforms naturally to the wrist. Although now strongly associated with Bulgari, Tubogas derives from earlier Italian goldsmithing traditions, notably the workshops of Weingrill in Verona, founded in 1879. The present bracelet was produced by the Carlo Weingrill workshops around the mid-1970s, as indicated by the hallmark on the clasp, and subsequently fitted to the Omega watch. The softly contoured yellow-gold cushion-shaped case is characteristic of the period, while the articulated Tubogas coils provide both flexibility and a distinctive sculptural appearance. The combination of Omega’s Swiss watchmaking with an Italian-made gold bracelet creates a particularly compelling and unusual example of mid-century jewellery watchmaking.
