Introduced in 1997, the Royal Oak Chronograph reference 25860 marked a defining milestone in Audemars Piguet's history as the first Royal Oak Chronograph. Rather than increasing the dimensions of Gérald Genta's iconic design, the manufacture succeeded in integrating a self-winding chronograph movement while preserving the original 39 mm proportions. Often nicknamed the "Kasparov" by collectors, the model owes its unofficial name to World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov, who served as an ambassador for Audemars Piguet and was frequently seen wearing this reference. Powering the watch is the ultra-thin self-winding calibre 2385, widely regarded as one of the finest automatic chronograph movements ever produced. The present stainless steel example is fitted with the desirable black Grande Tapisserie dial, distinguished by its larger guilloché motif. Further enhancing its desirability, the present watch is offered complete with its original warranty and presentation box.
