Among the most charismatic complicated wristwatches of the post-war era, the Vacheron Constantin reference 4764 perfectly embodies the Maison's ability to combine technical sophistication with bold mid-century design. Produced between 1953 and 1964, the reference housed a triple calendar with moon phases within the celebrated curved rectangular "Cioccolatone" case, a design that has become one of the defining icons of vintage Vacheron Constantin. Research conducted through the Manufacture's archives indicates that only 47 examples of reference 4764 were produced across all case metals, making it one of the rarest serially produced complicated wristwatches of its generation. Of these, the overwhelming majority were cased in yellow gold, while pink gold examples represent an exceptionally small fraction of production. Based on the currently documented scholarship, it is generally believed that only approximately six to eight pink gold examples were manufactured, and certainly fewer than ten. To date, only three distinct pink gold examples have been publicly documented through auction appearances, making the present watch, previously unknown to the market, a remarkable addition to the census of surviving examples. Further enhancing its historical appeal, the inside caseback bears the key number 26, identifying the celebrated Geneva casemaker Ponti & Gennari. Although principally renowned for manufacturing some of the finest gold bracelets supplied to Geneva's leading maisons during the 1950s and 1960s, Ponti & Gennari also produced a limited number of exquisitely crafted watch cases, distinguished by their exceptional quality of execution and refined proportions. Very well preserved condition and fresh to the market, this reference 4764 represents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most elusive complicated Vacheron Constantin wristwatches ever created.
