Launched in 2006 as the successor to the 3940, the 5140 carries on one of the manufacture’s most elegant traditions of watch complications. Its 18k yellow gold case features classic and refined lines, making this model one of Patek Philippe’s purest interpretations of the contemporary perpetual calendar. Its silver colored dial, accented with applied yellow gold hour markers, clearly displays the perpetual calendar indications, day and date at 9 o’clock, month and leap year at 3 o’clock, retrograde date via a central hand, and moon phases at 6 o’clock. This complication automatically accounts for the varying lengths of months across different years as well as leap years, theoretically requiring only a single correction in the year 2100. The sapphire crystal case back reveals the ultra-thin Patek Philippe 240Q automatic caliber, featuring a 22k gold micro-rotor. Its remarkably meticulous finishes illustrate the Manufacture’s mastery in the field of ultra-thin complications. Presented on a black leather strap with a yellow gold pin buckle, this watch comes with its original box, and certificate of origin. A highly complicated watch perfectly proportioned, and deeply representative of Patek Philippe’s elegance.
