Few designs better capture Piaget’s bold creative spirit of the 1970s than the Black Tie reference 14510. Introduced in 1972, its distinctive cushion-shaped case and softly gadrooned profile represented a radical departure from traditional watch design. The model also gained a lasting cultural significance through Andy Warhol, who acquired a yellow gold example in 1973 among the seven Piaget watches he owned. This close association eventually led Piaget to officially name the collection after the celebrated artist. The present example is crafted in yellow gold and fitted with a striking lapis lazuli dial. Its deep blue surface, enriched by naturally occurring variations and inclusions, provides a remarkable contrast with the warm tone of the case. Powered by a quartz movement, the watch reflects Piaget's pioneering experimentation with ornamental hard stones during the 1960s and 1970s. A particularly elegant combination of an iconic 1970s design, natural lapis lazuli and the enduring legacy of Andy Warhol, the present example is accompanied by a Piaget Authenticity Certificate and fitted presentation box.
