Dating from approximately the 1930s, the present Patek Philippe pocket watch is distinguished by its elegant two-tone case, accented by a fine rose gold line tracing the bezel. The watch reflects the refined yet highly graphic aesthetic of Patek Philippe’s Art Deco period. Of particular note is the exceptionally unusual black sector dial, a configuration rarely encountered in Patek Philippe’s production of the period. The deep black ground is articulated by a sharply defined outer sector track, geometric divisions and applied Arabic numerals at the cardinal points, creating a strikingly architectural composition. The subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock further enhances the balanced symmetry of the dial. The combination of its rare black sector dial, distinctive Art Deco design and two-tone case makes the present watch a particularly appealing and uncommon example of Patek Philippe’s pocket watches. The watch is further accompanied by its original box, enhancing its desirability and completeness.
