The Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6265 represents the final and most refined evolution of Rolex's legendary manually wound chronograph. Introduced around 1970 and remaining in production until the 1988, it marked the culmination of nearly three decades of Daytona development before the arrival of the automatic reference 16520, powered by the Zenith-based caliber. Retaining the celebrated Valjoux architecture, the upgraded Rolex caliber 727 offered improved reliability and precision for everyday use, while the introduction of screw-down chronograph pushers with the Oyster case and the Triplock winding crown increased water resistance to an impressive 100 meters, making the 6265 the most robust manual-wind Daytona ever produced. Dating to approximately 1980, the present example is fitted with the desirable "Big Red" dial, distinguished by its large red Daytona signature at 6 o'clock in the coveted floating configuration, positioned noticeably apart from the lower chronograph register and entirely consistent with the period of production. Preserved together with its original punched guarantee and presentation box, this watch represents an increasingly sought-after example of one of the most iconic vintage sports chronographs ever produced by Rolex.
