Under the leadership of Pierre-Alain Blum, from the late 1970s through the 1990s, Ebel enjoyed one of the most successful periods in its history. At a time when the Swiss watch industry was facing the challenges of the quartz crisis, Ebel distinguished itself through a series of innovative creations that combined refined design with strong mechanical credibility. Among the most celebrated creations of this period were Ebel's automatic chronographs powered by the legendary Zenith El Primero. Rather than relying on modular constructions, Ebel chose the high-frequency, fully integrated El Primero calibre, one of the most accomplished automatic chronograph movements ever produced. The present reference 5134901 is a particularly attractive example of this celebrated family of chronographs. Housed in an elegant pink gold case and fitted with a silvered dial featuring Roman numerals, it combines refined aesthetics with one of the most celebrated chronograph calibres in watchmaking history.
