Produced predominantly during the 1970s and 1980s, Patek Philippe reference 4237-1 is an elegant example of the Maison’s refined dress watches from this period. The present example is distinguished by its 18-karat yellow gold case, produced by Geneva casemaker George Croisier, identified by the Poinçon de Maître number 5, and its striking blue dial, an especially attractive combination that gives the watch a distinctive presence while retaining the understated character for which Patek Philippe was renowned. The generously proportioned case displays clean and balanced lines, complemented by a beautiful blue dial without indexes and yellow gold "pencil" hands. Beneath the dial beats the manually wound calibre 16-250, a robust and elegantly finished movement representative of Patek Philippe’s traditional approach to mechanical watchmaking. Combining a precious metal case by George Croisier, an uncommon blue dial and the highly regarded calibre 16-250, the present reference 4237-1 offers a particularly appealing expression of Patek Philippe’s understated elegance during the 1970s and 1980s.
